There will be a distinctly green and gold tinge to the Western Zone male and female teams which contest the finals of the 2024-25 Plan B Regional Bash at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Orange CYMS Cricket Club will have three current players and a former star spread across the two teams when they walk onto the hallowed cricketing turf on Tuesday 17 December.

Stacey Cornish and Addie Johnson will play for the women's team under the captaincy of former CYMS player Kira Churchland, while Joey Coughlan will play for the men's side in the day's second final.

Coghlan played at the SCG in the corresponding fixture last season. But for Cornish and Johnson, it will be their first time batting, bowling and fielding on the best ground in the state.

Both recognise just how big an opportunity it is.

"I am going to walk out there and feel so little in this huge place. Even going to watch the cricket, it's a huge atmosphere, so going to play on it, it's pretty out of this world," Cornish said.

For Johnson, it's a chance she never thought would come around again having fallen "out of love" with cricket at an early age.

"As a 30-year-old with a six-year-old child, it's not something I thought I'd be doing. I've re-found the love of cricket and I actually look forward to going to training and games," she said.
