CYMS wins Moxon auction as Clint brings all-round skills to title tilt

READY TO GO: Clint Moxon will play for Orange CYMS Cricket Club in 2024-25.

Orange CYMS Cricket Club's prospects of claiming the Bathurst Orange Inter-District Cricket First Grade premiership in its 80th year have been given a massive boost.

Clint Moxon, one of the best all-rounders in the competition in recent seasons, has signed on with the club for the 2024-25 season.

Moxon, a Bathurst representative player, has previously played with Bathurst City, but decided to make the move to CYMS to join former teammates Joey Coughlan and Ben Orme.

In what is likely to be his last season of First Grade cricket before moving to Bathurst's lower grades to play with his son, Riley, Moxon was looking for a change of environment.

"It's my last season in First Grade, and I have always wanted to contribute my talents to another club," Moxon said.

"I have always heard great things about CYMS and have thoroughly enjoyed playing against them over the years.

"I have created some great friendships from the team and have been looking forward to training and playing with those mates."

Moxon brings with him a wealth of experience with both bat and ball.

In 2023-24, he was the BOIDC's 10th top run scorer with 321 runs at an average of 32.1.

Even more impressively, he was the competition's leading wicket taker, claiming 27 scalps at the cost of 21.7.

He is hoping that form will continue in 2024-25 and that he can pass on those skills to some of CYMS's up-and-coming players too.

"I want to help the young players within the club with my cricket knowledge and hopefully can help improve their cricket," Moxon said.

First Grade captain Tom Belmonte said Moxon would add strength to what was already a squad stacked with talent.

"Moxon and Greg Donaldson (formerly of City Colts) are fantastic additions to the team for the season," he said.

"In the last two seasons we have been very close to premierships but fallen short. With Moxon, Donaldson and our best players returning for another crack, we have genuine hopes of being very competitive again.

"The motivation of winning a premiership in this great club's 80th year is certainly strong."
