WELL DONE: Orange CYMS Cricket Club's Junior Blasters players with their medals and awards on Monday afternoon.
The 2023-24 season is over for Orange CYMS Cricket Club's youngest players, with this week bringing an end to the club's Junior Blasters and Master Blasters programs.
The club's Blast programs have run for 12 weeks - six weeks either side of the school holidays - and have given boys and girls aged 4-9 a taste of cricket skills and games.
Orange CYMS Cricket Club's Blasters program is the biggest in Orange, with 55 kids in Junior Blasters and 38 in Master Blasters.
Orange CYMS Cricket Club President, Ben McNiven, said the programs had again been a huge success for the kids, their families, and the club.
"The enjoyment of all the kids who took part in the programs was obvious to see, and that is the most important thing. It was also clear that their skills really improved across the course of the season, which will in-turn help them enjoy their cricket in future seasons," he said.
LOVING IT: Some photos from our Junior Blasters and Master Blasters presentations.
"It is a great privilege for the club to play a role in introducing almost 100 children to cricket and helping them to enjoy their sport. We take that responsibility very seriously, and I want to thank the kids and their families for choosing to play their cricket with us."
"I also want to thank the coaches and volunteers from within the club who helped deliver these programs, giving up their time and knowledge to help these kids."
What do the Blast programs entail?
Junior Blasters: Fun drills and games to build basic skills for those new to cricket. Aimed at kids aged 4-6. 12 sessions will be held at Wade Park, running from 4.30pm-5.15pm on Mondays.
Master Blasters: Non-competitive, modified and safe matches for kids who have the ability to bowl with a straight arm and hit a moving ball. Aimed at kids aged 7-9. 12 matches will be played at Jack Brabham Park, running from 4.30pm-6pm on Thursdays.
