ON TOP: Orange CYMS Cricket Club's First Grade team has claimed the BOIDC minor premiership, as has the club's Second and Third Grade teams in their ODCA competitions.
A powerful First Grade run-chase and great bowling efforts by Second and Third Grade have delivered Orange CYMS Cricket Club a trifecta of minor premierships in 2022-23.
Coming into Saturday's final day of the Bathurst and Orange Inter District Cricket (BOIDC) competition, First Grade were hoping to limit Bathurst City to little more than the 7-150 they scored on a rain-affected first day the previous weekend.
But things did not go to plan, as City took their total to 277 before being bowled out at Bathurst's Morse Park.
This left CYMS just 43 overs to chase down the target if they wanted the victory required to seal first place on the competition's ladder ahead of finals.
The team signalled their intent from ball one, with Joey Coughlan blasting one to the boundary to kick off an innings that would finish on 56 from about 35 balls.
Further contributions from Tom Belmonte (37) and Charlie Tink (41 not out) helped Dave Neil (110 not out) run down Bathurst City's total in 40 overs.
Meanwhile in Orange, CYMS's Second Grade rolled Cavaliers for 91 at Riawena Oval before chasing that total for the loss of four wickets, while Third Grade dismissed Cavaliers for 105 at Jack Brabham 4 and passed that in the 19th over.
Both of those results secured top spot, with Third Grade progressing directly to the grand final in two weeks' time.
Speaking to the Central Western Daily, Neil said the results were well deserved and a reflection of the hard work put in across the season and "good people leading in every grade".
"John Mulhall and Brett Wykes (second grade) and Mick Curran and Riley Krause (third grade), Steve Wotton and Shaun Templar (Centenary Cup) have come out of the woodwork and been great for that team and Belmo and Rory are great for firsts."
