Orange CYMS Cricket Club's four under-11s teams have completed a very successful 2024-25 Orange District Junior Cricket Association season.

The teams - Green, Gold, Blue and White - all finished in the top eight of the 14-team competition, demonstrating the club's strength in the youngest of the ODJCA's competitive age groups.

The Gold and Green teams qualified for the four-team finals series, winning nine and eight regular-season games respectively, before bowing out in the semi-finals.

The Blue team finished the minor premiership in fifth place, having registered an impressive eight wins, while the White team powered to the end of the season, winning their last four games to finish eighth.

Orange CYMS President Ben McNiven congratulated the teams and noted the depth of talent the club is blessed with in the under-11s age group.

"To have the equal most amount of teams in this age group, and easily the best overall results in terms of how those teams performed, is a great sign for the club," McNiven said.

"Two teams qualifying for finals, one very narrowly missing out and another charging to the end of the season like the White team did is a wonderful result for these players, the coaches and volunteers, and the proud families involved.

"Most importantly, the players enjoyed their cricket and their teams, and played with the right spirit. We are very proud of them."

There were some impressive individual performers among the CYMS teams.

Angus Hattersley topped the competition's run scorers, smashing 303 runs across the season, while Sam Rinaldo (265 runs, second) and Felix Staniforth (199 runs, fifth) were also in the runs.

Angus Hattersley also performed well with the ball, taking the fourth most wickets in the competition with 18, with Harry McGrath (16 wickets, 10th) also among the competition's leading wicket-takers.

McNiven said that the club was especially grateful to the wonderful group of coaches, assistants, managers and other volunteers who helped the teams across the season.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated and selfless group of people developing these players and teams, both with the cricket skills and their conduct," McNiven said.

"The results speak for themselves in terms of how well coached and managed the teams were but it is the enjoyment and sportsmanship of the teams that really stand out.

"Special thanks to Peter Bromley, James Dellow, Nathan Fardell, Henry Heath and Chris Wright for all of the time and effort across the season as coaches."
